We rented a deluxe cabin number 14 for our honeymoon. The GPS took us to the wrong entrance...it was a 1 way, so pay attention to the signs on the road and you will find it no problem. There was no cell phone service and the satellite service in the cabin was terrible, but we did not go for that anyway. The lake view from our cabin was breathtaking! We had a great time walking trails and canoeing (you can rent boats and canoes to paddle the lake, defiantly worth it...the lake was amazingly breathtaking). The Louisiana State Arboretum is located within the park...and has over 5 miles of trails to hike, on top of the trails located through out the park. It was completely worth the trip, we had a great time. The cabin looks like it has recently been updated. I would suggest bring your own blanket and pillows, for a more comfortable nights rest. If you like nature...and breathtaking sites, you will not regret making this trip.
The thing is the place was so nice nobody seemed miss their phones cold screens, and preferred to can stare into a hot camp fire for hours.
Great place, did some Hammock camping and trail biking recently and was impressed with the natural beauty of the place. Bathrooms and showers, electrical outlets, clean facilities .
Heads up, Google maps directions to Chicot State Park are incorrect g-maps will drop you 3 miles short of the actual entrance.
Love going camping at the North Landing, but the removal of the trash bins at the camp sites is pretty inconvenient. And the restrooms are beginning to need a lot of work.
Fabulous park. The "comfort station" on the north camping area has private bathrooms and even a laundry. There is also wifi for the campsites. It's slow, since it's satellite based, but wow nonetheless. We had a great time over Christmas. Practically no one around.
For the phone addicted of the group of att, T-mobile, and Verizon only Verizon got a usable signal. There is WiFi but it is unusable with data rates in the low kilobyte range at best while standing under the antenna.
Good ole' Louisiana politics stealing money from wherever they can.
Went for our family Thanksgiving and had a very nice time. A few comments to make not complaints. NOTE your gps will take you to the one-way exit, don't enter there. The park is quite large and takes a while to navigate from one side to another so be mindful of the signs especially because many of the internal roads are also one-way. Be Prepared to have limited to no cell service so if being connected for emergencies is high on your list maybe not the best place for you. Other than those points the park is beautiful with lots of places to explore woods, swamp, and trails.
