I would love to see this school get some funding and do some renovations, as I think that despite the massive issues it faces (Ville Platte has a lot of drinking, drugs, teen pregnancy, etc...) I do feel that it at least has a tiny bit of hope because the feeling of utter apathy that you see in many other schools is not as omnipresent.

This school is terrible. Most teachers are totally careless. More than one teacher has made homophobic comments. Some teachers tolerate bullies, and are bullies themselves. This school is one of the worst schools I've ever gone to. Good riddance

In short this place is a conundrum. On the surface it's very rough, very brash (reminds me of the school from High School High, lol) but deep down the friendly nature of the people of Evangeline Parish shines through and makes it a much more tolerable place than one would think it to be.
As someone who spent his highschool years here I can tell you that it's a rough school. It's a very old building with lots of issues, and there are of course lots of little "cliques" and if you don't find the right one expect to spend your days being tormented. The budget obviously doesn't exist, and lots of the school is run down, but it's also really cool that such an old school should still be operating. I feel that to most people coming from nicer cities they'd think this place unbearable, but to be honest with you I went to a ton of schools all across the state and here was where I felt that I fit in the best. Like I said, there's lots of "cliques", but you can usually find one that you fit into, and everyone (regardless of class/clique) did seem to get along over one thing, a good sense of humor. There were always practical jokes aplenty and thought there was a lot of teasing like any high school it felt more humorous than hateful. There were also some dedicated students, and some dedicated teachers, when I was there that did try very hard to get (other) students asking questions and trying to pique their curiosity about the world.
